Board Meeting Notes

SHS Board of Trustees members John Baranek, John Daugherty, Annie Hanson, and Houston Morgan met April 9th. Agenda topics included the Harvest Festival (ten craft vendors are already confirmed), roof repair on the Heritage House. Thank you to those members and volunteers who greeted people at our booth at the recent Community Showcase. Our next program meeting will be a speaker on the History of Chippewa Lake Park.

Stow Historical Society Board of Trustees met Monday, March 12 at Stow City Hall. Present were John Baranek, John Daugherty, Annie Hanson, Houston Morgan, and John Pribonic. Matters under discussion included the upcoming Community Showcase, to be held April 7th and 8th at Stow High School; the Heritage House roof; and the Harvest Festival.  Members are needed to volunteer at our Community Showcase booth. Stow Historical Society Board members John Baranek, John Pribonic, John Daugherty, Annie Hanson, and Bob Flower met at Monday, January 5th, 2018.  The agenda included discussion of the upcoming year’s events. SHS is in need of someone to be the Harvest Festival Vendor Coordinator. This volunteer position seeks craft vendors for the festival and works with the vendors at the Festival. If you are interested please contact Beth Daugherty or any board member for a description of the duties involved. We are also seeking a member to care for the Mary Starr House. If interested, please contact Board President John Baranek.

Board members John Baranek, John Daugherty, Bob Flower, Jacinda Marsh, Houston Morgan, and Bob Megyesi met September 11, 2017. The Board discussed the upcoming Harvest Festival and the need for more volunteers. Also discussed were the need for a new roof and other maintenance on the Heritage House Museum. Our next program will be Mark Price, local history columnist for the Akron Beacon Journal, on September 25th at 7:00 p.m. at Stow City Hall.

Board members met Monday, March 13th at Stow City Hall. The main topic of discussion was the upcoming dedication of Stewart School. The dedication is set for Sunday, July 2nd, 2017. Activities are being planned – watch this site for more information.

Stow Historical Society Board of Trustees meet Monday, October 10th at 7 p.m. at Stewart School for the monthly board meeting. Present were John Baranek, John Daugherty, Beth Daugherty, Bob Megeysi, and Jacinda Warman. Trustees viewed the recent renovations to the one room schoolhouse and Bob Flower reported on future plans. Treasurer Bob Megeysi gave an updated report on the Harvest Festival. The Board is seeking candidates for board members, to be selected at the November meeting. If interested, please contact Board President John Baranek at 330-688-2852.

Stow Historical Society Board of Trustees met September 12th at 7:00 p.m. at Stow City Hall. All members present. Items discussed included the improvements to Stewart School, and the upcoming Harvest Festival.  Interior electric and painting for the school are being taken care and should be ready in time for the Harvest Festival. Thank you to Dave Reinhart for volunteering to paint. Also the wheelchair accessible ramp is nearing completion. Plans for the Harvest Festival are underway, with craft demonstrators in each of the historic houses and craft vendors applying for booth spaces. There will be a special exhibit on Silver Lake in the Heritage House this year. Volunteers are still needed to help in the houses and at the sales table. Our next member meeting will be Monday, September 26th at 7:00 p.m. at Stow City Hall. Speakers will be from the Summit County Court of Common Pleas – Probate Division.
