Thirty-six members and guests attended the annual picnic meeting held Monday, August 25th at the Heritage Barn. Everyone enjoyed the variety of good food and conversation. Reports on the Old Schoolhouse project and the upcoming Harvest Festival were given. The Stewart School should be open for visitors during the Festival, which will be held October 4th and 5th. A volunteer sheet was passed around, as volunteers are needed to sit in the historic houses, work at the raffle/apple butter table, assist with set-up, parking, kitchen, etc.

Contact Howard and Laverne Corathers at hcorathers@neo.rr.com if you would like to sit in the Darrow House or Jacinda Warman at jacindawcontact@yahoo.com if you would like to sit in the Starr House. March 2014 Member Meeting & Program

John R. Walker will be the speaker at our first member meeting of 2014.  Walker will discuss his book Bracketing the Enemy: Forward Observers in World War II, published in August 2013. The book details the history of artillery forward observation usage, which began with the Civil War. The author uses two units in which his father served as examples in the book. Walker, a resident of Stow, became interested in history after he began studying genealogy and discovered that three of his family members served in Company B of the 104th Ohio Volunteer Infantry in the Civil War. Please join other members and guests for this fascinating program. Monday, March 24th at 7:00 p.m. at Stow City Hall Boards and Commission Room. Mr. Walker will have copies of his book for sale. They are also for sale on Amazon. at http://www.amazon.com/Bracketing-Enemy-Forward-Observers-World/dp/0806143800/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1390077715&sr=8-1&keywords=bracketing+the+enemy
